1. Father Ryan is hosting a camp May 30 – June 2 for experienced wrestlers through 12th grade. The camp begins at 9:00 am and ends at 4:00 pm each day. The cost is $125 per child.

2. Father Ryan is also hosting a camp June 5 – June 9 for beginner wrestlers of all ages. The camp begins at 9:00 am and ends each day at 12:00 pm.

3. Vince Gioiella and Brandon Rader will be hosting a free technical wrestling camp scheduled Friday evening, June 16th & Saturday morning/afternoon, June 17th in the Pat Simpson Wrestling Room at Father Ryan.

The session times are as follows:
5/16: 5pm – 7pm
5/17: 8am -10am
5/17: 11:30am – 1:30pm

Lunch and drinks will be provided for all attendees on Saturday.

The camp will cover both folk style wrestling while incorporating freestyle technique.

Brandon Rader has recently moved here from Parkersberg, West Virginia, and is new to the NCW/Father Ryan community. He has been gracious enough to dedicate his time to helping our program.

We hope that there is a strong attendance for this camp and have scheduled it to accommodate weekend activities for Father’s Day.

1. The Father Ryan Wrestling banquet is Sunday, April 2, at 5:30 in the Father Ryan Dining Hall. Eighth graders are recognized at this banquet and are invited to attend with their families. RSVP to Connie at ConstanceWesnofske@comcast.net by Monday night if you plan to attend and how many in your party. The cost is $20 per person.

2. Practices start up again Monday, March 27. We will practice Mondays and Tuesdays from 5:30-6:45. This will last until the end of the school year. It will be more instructional, cleaning our technique up. Coach Simpson will be running the practices and they are open to grades 5-12. There is no additional fee for this series.

3. As discussed previously, we are sending a group to the Purler 24 day camp. He has offered us a good deal and NCW is further subsidizing the cost. What you need to do is go to his website, purlerwrestling.com, download the application, fill it out, and turn it in to one of the coaches with your check for $1500 made out to Nashville Catholic Wrestling. We will send all the applications up together with one check. We have set a March 31 deadline for the applications to be turned in. Please contact Coach Gorham if you want to go but there is a financial issue.

4. Father Ryan will host a “Fight Night” starting this Thursday, March 30, at 4:30. There will be no formal instruction, just live matches. All are welcome.

Numerous families have inquired about summer camps. Summer camps are highly encouraged. Father Ryan will have a one week camp May 30-June 2 and all non beginners should plan attend if possible. Father Ryan will also be hosting a beginner camp, k-4, June 5-June 8.

For the more experienced and serious wrestler we are also recommending the Purler Wrestling camp: www.purlerwrestling.com. This is the camp Trey Chalifoux went to and thought highly of. We have talked with Coach Purler and, along with Nashville Catholic, have worked out a package we would like you to consider. The camp would start June 10 and the last day would be July 5, split into 3 sessions. The first week would be neutral, second week top/bottom/neutral, and the last two weeks an intensive camp. The normal price would be $2,185. In conjunction with Purler wrestling and Nashville Catholic Wrestling, your cost would be $1500. This includes room, board, and transportation to and from camp, located just outside of St. Louis.

This camp option filled up quickly last year. It is open to any experienced NCW wrestler, 5-12 grade. While NCW is supplementing the fee, further financial aid is still available. DO NOT let cost be the determining factor. Please contact Matt Gorham,615-319-3038, if you need to discuss finances.

Also, they cannot “add on” as they have a limited number of beds and the camp is limited to 45 wrestlers. We’d like to have between 10-15 wrestlers going between middle school and high school, which means we have to get a quick commitment to get you all in the same sessions. Reply asap if you can go.

There is a Tenway tournament at Father Ryan on Saturday! This tournament is open to K-12 grades! This is a great opportunity for our wrestlers and we highly encourage all to wrestle.
