Unfortunately, the school system at Walton Verona has cancelled the tournament due to snow. Being so close to their state tournament they probably will not be able to get another date. On the plus side you will now be able to attend the Ryan/MBA match, 7pm, at Father Ryan and practice Sunday.

There is a prediction of some winter weather in Walton Verona that could pose a problem. The school may be forced to cancel the tournament. They will have a definitive answer Friday by 2:00pm. If you are planning on driving yourself, please do not leave until we know for sure that the tournament is not cancelled..

NCW will be taking a bus Friday to Walton Verona High School for the Bearcat Brawl. We will leave from Father Ryan at 4:30 and travel to the Holiday Inn Express and Suites Richwood. The address is 12928 Frogtown Connector Rd, Richwood, KY 41094. We have a block of rooms reserved and you need to call and claim your room. The rooms will be released Wednesday afternoon. Their number is 859-493-0900.

We will leave the hotel at 7:00 am Saturday for a 7:30 weigh-in. We are allowed to bring more than one wrestler per weight class so if your name is not listed and you want to go, text or talk with Coach Gorham. We will return to Father Ryan directly after the tournament.

All Middle School wrestlers should plan to be at Father Ryan at 6:00. We are still unsure how many extra wrestlers they will bring but know we have matches for Calvin, Lampert, Roark, Garcia, Gobbell, Reid, McTorry, L. LaMoata, Dy, Hawkinson, Ward, M. LaMoata, Weaver, Burnett, G. Fisher, W. McGrady, M. Fisher. Time permitting and their willingness to go twice, we will try to get everyone else a match.

There will not be a weigh-in, just a skin check.

Wednesday, Middle School practice is 10-12. There will be no 5:30 Middle School practice Wednesday.

Club practice on Wednesday will be at 5:30.

Thursday, we have a Middle School match against Bradley Central at Father Ryan. The match starts at 7:00. Plan on being there at 6:00. Coach Gorham will have the lineup.

Connie Wesnofske must know by noon on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, if you would for your child to wrestle in the tournament. Please email constancewesnofske@comcast.net with your child’s name, DOB and the weight class they will be wrestling. If you do not email Connie by noon on Wednesday, you will be responsible for registering your child.

The 51st annual FRHS Johnny Drennan Memorial Invitational is January 4-5, 2018. Fifty-one high school teams from 8 states will be participating, and we need your help. This is the longest running tournament in the state of Tennessee. Father Ryan provides the use of their facilities and is very good to NCW. This is our chance to give back! NCW families have been asked to provide at least (1) case of sports drinks, soft drinks and/or water for the Hospitality room. Feel free to also bring baked goods, these are always needed! Please bring them to the Coaches office in the wrestling room at any practice over the week or drop off on Friday before noon. NCW wrestlers will also be needed to work the tournament (as table workers and towel tappers). Please wear your NCW shirt to the tournament. Your help is much appreciated! Thank you!!!
