The History of NCW

Nashville Catholic Wrestling got its start in 1995 with Tommy Bateman as the head coach. The program was designed to offer young men the opportunity to learn the sport of wrestling prior to their start at Father Ryan High School. Tommy Bateman’s teams were very successful in introducing wrestling to many people. Over the years, Nashville Catholic Wrestling has been instrumental in producing great wrestlers who have gone on to achieve much success in high school.

Currently Nashville Catholic Wrestling is coached by former wrestlers Jim Simpson, Bryan Gobbell, Matt Gorham, Brett Wesnofske, and Corey Williams.

Nashville Catholic Wrestling is open to all young men in the Diocese of Nashville who are in Kindergarten through 8th grade and attend parochial school or are registered in their parish’s education program.
